SuperTargeting the region
The area's first SuperTarget store came a few years ago up in Mooresville. Now, the region is becoming filled with them (a few years behind the Triangle though). Charlotte's first SuperTarget store came to Rivergate in Steele Creek (southwest Mecklenburg County) and a similar store opened up near Concord Mills at Afton Ridge. There's talk now that the new Target at Midtown in Charlotte may be a super one. Average sizes of stores range at about 175k square feet, compared to regular Targets at around 124k. Additional plans for SuperTargets in the area include one across Northlake Mall and possibly a Gastonia location. [Childress Klein]

SuperTarget - Wake Forest (Raleigh)
SuperTarget is definately becoming a major player in the Carolina grocery market. I took this photo about 2 years ago, and since SuperTarget has began its expansion into the Charlotte market. We've yet to see SuperTarget stores in the Triad, but I'd imagine they are in the works. Currently the Triangle has over half a dozen stores or so.
