Downtown Greensboro is closer to getting a small grocery store. Deep Roots Market, the community-owned cooperative currently located on Spring Garden Street near Wendover Avenue, says it has raised 75 percent of the $1.25 million needed to build a new downtown store that will encompass over 10,000 square feet. Deep Roots Market is known for being one of the only co-ops to feature all-organic produce and source much of their food from local farmers. The store is set to be on the north end of Downtown on North Eugene St. near Fisher Park.
